Visiting the newly renovated library as a family
Did you know the month of April is an official time of recognition for our public libraries? In fact, National Library Week, was April 9-15, 2017.
We are coming up on almost a year since the public unveiling of the renovated Boston Central Library – a $78 million, long range investment geared toward bringing the historic building fully into the 21st century. The extensive revamping aims to better the lives of all Bostonians, not merely through new, cutting-edge technology; but by growing young readers, providing co-working space for budding entrepreneurs, and promoting a valuable sense of community and shared space for seniors.
My vision for Boston is one in which local libraries are not only a hub for access to information, but a central place for teaching key research skills, and the ability to spot “fake news”. Together, let’s work towards nurturing a community with discerning fact-checking and critical thinking abilities!
