Early on Saturday morning, I joined with other Mission Hill #loveyourblock volunteers to get the day started with Yissel Guerrero, Mayor Walsh’s neighborhood liaison for Back Bay, Beacon Hill, Fenway, Kenmore, and Mission Hill. Work gloves and tools were quickly distributed, crew teams were formed, and projects were assigned.

I had the good fortune of joining an energized group that was charged with cleaning trash from Tremont Street and creating flower beds in the sidewalk tree wells. Power tools, brooms, and happy volunteers were key to the day’s success. Thanks to Suzanne and Jill for being such great project leaders! Keep a watch out for this duo who are the brains behind lots of future projects on the Hill (where my mother and aunts grew up!).

Check the City of Boston website for more #LoveYourBlock opportunities in your neighborhood. Community volunteer events make me #District8Proud!
