Kristen Mobilia – Candidate for Boston City Council District 8, and Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey
This past weekend I attended the annual Massachusetts Democratic State Convention. The day kicked off with an early morning set of speeches, including one from Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey. She was passionate and quickly stepped out in front of the podium to get the crowd excited about the day’s work. The Attorney General was standing next to me as the later speeches unfolded, so I introduced myself and we took a quick photo. She has such an amazing presence and is a great example of strong leadership in politics.
After meeting, I realized that we share a few things in common. We both come from a family of five siblings, and each have a sister who is key to our campaign success. I count myself lucky to have three very supportive brothers as well!
A second commonality is our passion for basketball. While Attorney General Healey was a professional basketball player, and I was a high school player, the sport has played a significant role in both our lives in terms of leadership. Having the opportunity to captain a team and work closely with a group over many seasons is a great foundation for professional success.
It also happens that we are both graduate alumni of Northeastern University. Of course, Maura Healey has a law degree. I graduated with an MBA. Since then we both find ourselves in great company with many professionals across the City of Boston, the U.S., and around the globe.
Here’s to finding common ground with the people we meet every day!
